In April, 2001 the Howard County Forestry Board was invited to plant trees with the students of Waverly Elementary school. Below, the students are shown learning the rules for the day.
Dave Plummer, the Forester assigned to Howard County, gave the students specialized instructions, and demonstrated his fine technique. With their instructions, groups of students worked together to plant the trees.
Students gave their individual attention to the exercise. Each sapling was planted with extra care. Despite the threat of rain, students were enthusiastic about the reforestation project!
Even the chairman of the Howard County Forestry Board was present to demonstrate the right way to plant the saplings.
At the day's end, the saplings were in the ground and a fine project was completed.
